AXA Frigiliana Coca Cola SpotFrigiliana now has a claim to fame after it figured in a Coca-Cola TV comercial, but this multinational is not the only brand name to have chosen the village.

It was back in 2015 that the well known Italian, chocolates company, Ferrero Rocher ran a competition to choose the most beautiful village in Spain… and Frigiliana won.

The TV ad is being broadcast on all national TV channels in Spain and includes a scene of people drinking on a restaurant terrace overlooking the valley. The spot was shot in February on Calle Santo Cristo, right in the middle of the old town. The background music is It’s a Wonderful World originally sung by Louis Armstrong.

The Mayor of Frigiliana, Alejandro Herrero (PSOE), is a happy bunny, as you can imagine. “As soon as they asked permission to shoot scenes here, we set about helping them as much as we could; we even put them in contact with locals who have donkeys and mules to transport their equipment up to the Mirador where they erected a mock restaurant terrace,” he explained. There is no way you can get a car, much less a van, up there; hence the need for a more ‘traditional’ form of transport.

The Mayor pointed out that Frigiliana is now well known around Spain but with this Coca-Cola advert, he hopes it will also become more known on an international level.
