Around the last week of January there were two mountain fires within the municipality of Motril – the figures are just out for one of them.
The fire in the area known as Cerro Gordo consumed seven hectares of mountain brush during the eight hours that it took to get it under control and put it out; a task that needed 80 fire fighters and sevaral vehicles and a helicopter.
To date, it is still not known how the fires broke out but the fact that two broke out in the space of hours in two completely different places seems suspicious, to say the least.
