Around 14.00h yesterday afternoon a German paraglider met his death in a flying accident caused by his lines tangling.
The 54-year-old man crashed down in the Loma de Gato area, (Camino Almenara) not far from the Taramay roundabout for the A-7 autovia.
According to some witnesses who saw the accident unfolding, they report that he took off from on top off Loma de Gato and then saw him lose control because the canopy was fouled before hitting the ground not far from the said roundabout.
The Policía Local, Guardia Civil, the fire service were alerted and all quickly arrived but there was nothing that could be done for the victim.
“When we arrived the man wasn’t breathing and as he had come down in an accessible area, we were not needed,” explained a spokesperson for the fire service. The ambulance crew could only certify him as dead pending the arrival of the coroner, who arrived around 16.00h and gave permission for the body to be moved.
