La Herradura Roadworks

LHR New Paseo RoundaboutLa Herradura’s seafront road is undergoing roadworks, as is Avenida Prieto Moreno, where it joins the paseo road because of the new roundabout.

It looks a bit a like the Somme 1916, what with trenches for laying new pipes and God knows what else – could have sworn that they had already done that…

“It complex works and far from easy,” said the First Councillor, Juan José Ruiz Joya, “because of the number of connections in supply networks, such as mains water and electricity conduits and rain drainage.”

LHR New Paseo Roundabout PlanHe apologised for the inconvenience caused but said that they needed to get it done before the summer comes.

The old uralite pipe that runs between the mouth of the Rambla del Espinar and the kiddies’ park is being replaced with a PVC one, which is why they have had to rip up the pedestrian pavement, including the inset, mosaic crest in front of the Market’s sidedoor.

Councillor Ruiz Joya promised that the pavement and crest will be relaid just as soon as the pipe replacement has finished.

However, the opposition party, Ciudadanos Almuñécar-La Herradura is not happy, expressing “perplexity, surprise and annoyance” at the lack of signposting to warning about the roadworks and traffic restrictions.

They had already criticised the moment chosen to carry out this work because they consider that it will negatively affect the tourist high season, even if work is put on hold during the summer.
