If you have taken a trip over to Nerja, you will have seen the temporary fire station plastered with banners calling for a permanent solution, but things are moving.
Nerja’s permanent fire station is weeks away from opening, which will also serve Torrox and Frigiliana, thanks to the Nerja Town Hall having finally accepted the finished building from the the Provincial Council.
The Town Hall had baulked at the extra 80,000 euros needed for the main doors/gates, which had not been foreseen in the original budget costs, in which the Provincial Council had put up (57%) and the Nerja Town Hall (43%).
Thanks to the 1.2m-euro budget – and despite this bickering between the two entitities – the facilities are now only waiting for the Provincial Fire Service Consortium to equip it all with both material and staff.
