Believe it or not, many people flush baby wipes down their toilets. Unfortunately this is causing chaos in our sewage systems.

For this reason Motril has put in motion a campaign to heighten awareness of the consequences of this practice, starting with the Colegio Público Francisco Mejías

The campaign, entitled, Tu Inodoro no es Una Papelera, has been set up primarily by the water company, Aguas y Servicios de la Costa Tropical, in collaboration with the Mancomunidad de Municipios and will continue around all the schools in the area, therefore, coming to you soon!

The Chairman of the water company, Justo Suárez Maldonado, together with the Chairman of the Mancomunidad, Sergio García Alabarce, was at the school explaining to children and their parents about the proper disposal of these pesky, sewage blockers.

These wipes are the cause of most blockages and damage to sewage-processing installations. Furthermore, they contain chemicals and creams the drag out the cleaning process of sewage water and thus increase maintenance and running costs.
