A 23-year-old British woman lost her life bungee jumping off a bridge in the municipality of Lanjarón near the A-44.

The incident occurred around 14.45h today, Tuesday the 21st, when the victim slammed into the side of the bridge causing fatal head injuries.

Emergency services rushed to the scene but were unable to do anything for her.

The Guardia Civil is investigating the accident to find out how it happened, and whether she was doing it on her own initiative or whether she had been on an outing with an adventure-sports company.

As the rope was intact, the police are looking into the possibility the length of the bungee had been miscalculated for the drop.

Although the original press release does not name the bridge, by its location we’re probably talking about the Puente de Tablate; either the metal one, or the older stone one.

Update: As can be seen in the second photograph, the victim, Kleyo De Abreu, jumped from the higher bridge and apparently swung into the lower one.
