Strollers along the Paseo between the Altillo and the Peñon del Santo will have seen heavy machinery working on the groyne.

Large boulders are deposited on Playa Puerta del Mar by dumper trucks – more or less in front of the old Hiper supermarket – from where they are scooped up and taken to the groyne or breakwater that is being reinforced and enlarged.

Once that is concluded, Playa Caletilla – all but disappeared owing to sea action – can be regenerated with sand collected from the Río Verde riverbed.
