The Almuñécar Maintenance Department has sorted out an unstable balustrade along the Paseo de Prieto Moreno. There was a danger than if somebody lent on it heavily enough, it could have toppled onto the beach below.

It was more the passage of time and the corrosive nature of sea spray that had caused the structure to weaken, rather than acts of vandalism, or even – God forbid – faulty workmanship.

The repair work has comprised of replacing the corroded metal pins on which the individual baluster shafts (vertical posts) are set.

Twenty metres of balustrade have been replaced in this manner.

Gosh! That was jolly interesting!
