The delay to the reopening of Avenida de Andalucía in Almuñécar has pleased nobody, especially affected shops during the recent bank holiday.
The leader of the PSOE, Sergio García Alabarce, has said that the delay, despite the building company working through the public holidays, is the fruit of bad planning on the behalf of the governing party, the PP.
Sr. García Alabarce, said, “The Mayor has got it wrong again. The same thing happened during the first phase [Plaza de Madrid] when worked lasted into summer.”
He added, “We remind her again that to carry out work on main thoroughfares requires good planning and construction work that disturbs the neighbourhood as little as possible. Closing access to the main street well into the beginning of December in such a commercial area of town generates economic loss.”
He also lamented that this construction work resulted in jobs going to outsiders whilst there are so many in need of work in Almuñécar.
