sea festival 2014 in La HerraduraBy Jack Longman:

After last year’s 1st-ever Sea Festival on the Costa Tropical, Spain, the Asociación Amigos Del Mar Costa Tropical is organising a follow-up Festival to take place on September 19th and 20th in La Herradura. A two-day event dedicated to celebrating the beauty of the marine environment and raising awareness.

This year, with a change of pace and scene, the Festival’s line-up consists of: an all-sea-themed parade, starting from  Las Gaviotas school, to the Civic Centre, where the exhibition hall is to be filled with sea-related drawings by the kids and many more children’s activities to take place at the Civic Centre and on the beach. Then there is also an exciting and fun treasure hunt for the adults which completes Day One.

Day Two is jam-packed with many not-to-be-missed activities, such as free try-dives in the sea, an underwater clean-up, the giant Paella at lunchtime, live interviews with sea experts during the lunch break, followed by live music in the evening at the Plaza Nueva, which will also be home to a variety of stalls, all dedicated to the sea, in La Herradura, with even more activities in the pipeline.

There is plenty of fun to be had for all, so make sure you join us.

Asociación Amigos Del Mar Costa Tropical was founded in 2014 by Anne Zipse, after the successful efforts of last year’s, 1st-ever Sea Festival to take place in La Herradura. It was Anne’s love for the sea that inspired the first event and fuelled her to rally together like-minded individuals. A collaboration that together organized the ocean-based weekend that would become the Sea Festival.

They are a non-profit, ocean-conversationalist group based on the Costa Tropical, Spain. Their main goal is to promote marine awareness through various means, such as: educating the public with workshops; publicly promoting healthy marine interaction; conducting marine clean-ups (beach and sea) and hosting an annual sea festival, dedicated to showing love and appreciation for the marine environment.
