Almuñécar Pub Denounced by Handicapped Association

ALM Soho Lounge OnLPub Soho Lounge on the Paseo del Altillo (Los Bajos) has attracted severe condemnation from a handicapped association.

Allegedly, a large group of handicapped young people, 27 in number, were expelled from the pub, on the grounds of their handicap, on the evening of the 26th of July.

Reportedly, they were asked to leave and the music show halted until they did. Consequently, the handicapped association, ASPACE, has reported the pub owners to the police.

However, the pub owners have a different version of the incident, and not only deny this, but are also studying taking the association to court for slander (defamation of character).

According to the local DJ, Emilio González – who claims to be handicapped himself with a 59% disability – the group were ‘invited’ to sit outside,on the terrace, where there were armchairs and tables, for their own safety, because the pub was soon to be filling up.

As for the accusation that the DJ refused to start the show, he explained that any planned musical event does not start until 75% of the client capacity has been reached, whereas at that moment it was only full to 25% of its capacity.

Lastly, Pub Soho Lounge, which also has a waitress with a 33% disability, pointed out that it works closely with Downs-Syndrome Associations and groups with physical and mental disabilities.

In fact, the pubs permits a sports association for people with special needs to have the use of the facilities every Tuesday and Sunday.
