Motril Salobreña and Almuñécar have issued decrees over the use of TV’s on bar terraces during the World Cup.
Whereas Motril and Salobreña have issued decrees that permit this practice during the World Cup, Almuñécar has approved a decree that permits this not only during the World Cup, but during other televised, sporting events.
Summing up, as long as the bar concerned has all its paperwork and taxes paid up to date, there shouldn’t be any problem.
However, viewing can not exceed the normal time limits already established as part of the municipal regulations governing bar terraces. In the case of Motril, only coverage of the matches may be viewed; once a match has finished, TV’s must be turned off; i.e., you can’t follow normal TV programing.
But Motril has gone one step further; the Town Hall has installed a huge screen in the Plaza de la Coronación from today, 21.00h when Spain plays the Netherlands. The screen has an area of 9-sq/m on a 16:9 ratio with back lighting that permits daytime viewing.
So, no need to panic – you will be able to follow the matches in the open as you slurp your cañas or something stronger.
