Although there were fewer participants than usual this year, that certainly didn’t affect the high level of skill and dedication that these musicians brought to the competition, not to mention the enthusiasm or appreciation of the audience!
The results of the week building up to Saturday night’s performance, include Marcos Victora-Wagner for first prize in this XXIX edition of the Andrés Segovia International Guitar competition.
His prizes include 9,000 euros, plus a guitar built by craftsman Luis Santiago Hernández, as well as an invitation to perform at Granada’s International Festival of Music and Dance in 2014.
In addition to this, Marcos will also have the opportunity to perform this evening 25th November together with the Orchestra of the University of Granada, at the Manuel de Falla Auditorium in Granada.
As far as the Andrés Segovia Competition was concerned, further prize winner was Angelica Rodriguez from Paraguay, who received the Leo Brouwer Special Prize for best interpretation of the work El Yelmo de Mambrino by Fernando Fiszbein, (winner of the XXIV Andrés Segovia Composition Competition – 2012).
