Two Guardia Arrested in Almuñécar

The provincial Public Prosecutor for Málaga accused two Guardia Civil policemen stationed in Almuñécar of drug trafficking.

His investigations have lead to the implication of 14 individuals, four of whom are members of the Guardia Civil and one member of the Policía Nacional. All of them are charged with collaboration with criminal gangs, dedicated to the trafficking of drugs, mainly hashish.

According to the Public Prosecutor, each one of the 14 accused had separate functions within the drug-smuggling operation. One of the Almuñécar policemen gave instructions to the other policemen; his companion in Almuñécar, a guardsman in Nerja and another one in Málaga.

The secret task of the policemen was to reportedly keep an eye on the incoming drugs and to make sure that no other Guardia Civil units were around. They also allegedly took part in the preparation and execution of a drug run on the 2nd of October 2009, which was landed at the mouth of Río Torrox in Málaga.
