New Life for Old Xmas Trees

The Almuñécar Town Hall once again is carrying out a campaign to round up real Christmas trees and have them replanted.

This eco-rescue plan for unwanted Christmas trees is both to stop them being turfed out to beg on the streets or clutter the rubbish-collection system and, at the same time, repopulate our surrounding countryside with trees.

“We have struck a deal with the rubbish-collection company, as well as appealing to the citizens of Almuñécar to give these trees a second lease of life,” explained, Luis Aragón, who is the Councillor for the Environment, amongst other council departments.

Anyway, anybody who has a real Christmas tree; i.e., it has roots and is not made of plastic… take it around to the municipal sports stadium, where there is a collection point. Any doubts, phone 648 288 742.
