Cooler Pensioners

If there is one thing that the elderly suffer from more than anybody else, it’s the heat and cold, so the users of the Club del Pensionista de La Herradura will be happy bunnies now that air conditioning has finally been installed.

The local company, Servi Hogar Damasco was charged with installing the equipment, which counted on a budget of 11,600 euros, says the First Councillor for La Herradura, Juan José Ruiz Joya. The cooling units belong to the Hiyasu brand name, which will  zap any pensioner caught with a drop of sweat on his or her head anywhere within the 150-sq/m hall.

This move was a long promised one, as since the pensioner’s club was moved to the Centro Cívico, they have been melting during the summer months, thanks to the large window facade of the building, bless their (soaked) cotton socks. And don’t forget, the equipment works as a heater in the colder months…

When some more funds becomes available, the public library will be the next blessed place to receive air con.
