School Accesses Need Attention

According to the socialist spokesman for Almunecar and La Herradura, the schools in the two towns need immediate attention before the school term begins.

He points out that the zebra crossings outside some schools need repainting, as the paint has almost faded away, or been blackened by tyre rubber. He also wants them treated with an anti-slip surface.

Perhaps, unrealistically, he also suggested having a policeman on all the zebra crossings in front of schools. When you take into consideration that just C.P. La Virgen de la Antigua in Almuñécar has three zebras on one side and another on the back entrance, then multiply that by all the junior schools in Almunecar and La Herrdura, you soon come up with the conclusion that there aren’t enough policemen to do this. Even if there were, there would be no policeman available for any other tasks anywhere else in the town during the beginning of class influx and the end of school-day exodus.

The Spokesman, Francisco Prados, who is a teacher himself and served as head teacher in Al Andalus, is no doubt aware of the impracticality of this suggestion.
