There are plans to build a dry dock right next to the Club Náutico, within Motril Port. The port authorities are putting it up to tender for a 10-year lease, extendible five years more with an investment needed of around 800,000 euros.

The planned installations will occupy the boat-repair yard, which was built several decades ago, before anybody really bothered about environmental impact – it’s a mess.

Yet this dry dock will only be temporary, as it will be a fill-in measure until the new dock/quay is built. Be that as it may, the dry dock will have room for a minimum of 200 embarkations, whose length does not exceed eight metres.
Together with the planned Reception Centre for cruise ship passengers – the only such facilities in the whole of Andalucía, it is hoped that Motril port will attract more visitors and investment.
