Medical Centre Understaffed

ALM MedCentre AerialThe Almuñécar medical centre is having problems – who isn’t? Their principal problem is that the same number of doctors and staff have to cater for the bloated summer, Christmas and Easter holiday period, even though the ‘staff needs’ are calculated on the normal year-round population.
For instance, as if the two doctors on duty at the emergency unit didn’t have enough on their hands, they are also called out to people’s homes, leaving this 24-hour service without any doctors present. Last summer the shortage became so acute that a new and ridiculous record was sent: 300 emergencies attended by just two doctors.
