When living in Nerja some 10 years back, we used to play golf at the Añoreta course near Rincón de la Victoria. At a signpost I often noticed the name of Macharaviaya. I used to think: What a funny name for a place.

Three items of news in one for this article, the first being the case of a man who was arrested in Salobreña after threatening a local with an antique pistol, fitted with a mini-bayonet. The 37-year-old Moroccan man was charged with the illegal possession of a firearm.
