Herradura’s First Annual Gastronomic Fair

The village celebrated its first Feria Gastronmica – Almunecar style – on 3rd, 4th and 5th of last month.

Considering that this tapa-cum-gourmet party was the first attempt, it didn’t go too badly, with dozens of people turning up and around 10 restaurant stalls.

Triffids Invade Footpaths!

People in the old part of the village were pretty browned off (annoyed) over the amount of weed growing along footpaths and steps. Some of he weeds growing on the steps on La Cuesta de Fray Leopoldo were big enough to trip somebody up as they descended these steep steps.

Good Home for Strays?

Dr Animal has two strays and they’re looking for a good home for them.

Bongo and Bruno are two young (1.5 years old) castrated males, found abandoned on the beach. Both are very healthy animals (all vaccines are up to date and have they have microchips).

Beach Road Improvements

You will have noticed that where the Las Tejas riverbed crosses the beach road the latest work has left it in a damned civilized manner – no more crocodiles and mantraps… The Espinar might be full of weeds and palm-tree cuttings, which deserves criticism, but this modification at the river mouth deserves praise.

New Tapa Bar in the Village

Chef, Miguel Castilla, proprietor of Almuñécar’s Restaurante Reina Sofía, has opened a tapas bar in front of Hotel Almijarra in Edificio Bahía Jardín, with the name Sacacorchos (Corkscrew) .
