International Piano Competition

ALM Winner 1st international piano competitionAlmuñécar had its first international piano competition from the 13th to the 15th, which was held in the Casa de la Cultura.

The Russian pianist Filip Moskalenko (b.1996) took the First Prize, winning a 1,000-euro cash prize and a chance to play accompanied by the Orquesta Sinfónica.

The Second Prize, worth 500 euros, went to the Polish pianist, Jakub Kaciezko, whilst María del Carmen Montero from Granada took the Third Prize worth 250 euros. Both the 2nd and 3rd prize also win recitals during 2019 and 2020.

The International University of Valencia sponsored this piano competition, which also awarded a special prize to the winner in the form of a university grant for a Masters Degree in Music Investigation and Interpretation (piano).

The said university also offered a 25% discount on such a degree but in all fields, not just the piano.

All told, there were seven participants haling from three different countries.

Whilst the judges were deliberating, the audience were treated to Chopin’s Piano Concert Nº1 in F, interpreted by the Orquesta Centro Música and concert pianist, Daniel de Pino.
