The Mayor of Motril has announed that there will be a new home for the Policía Local; presently they are based in La Fabriquilla.

Long-time residents of Motril will remember that the municipal police were originally based alongside the Town Hall before being move down to the Camino de Ventanillas on the Calle Fabriquilla/Doctor Tercedor Junction.

If conditions in the Plaza España were ropey, the ones in the Fabriquilla are not much better – after all, the Fabriquilla move was only meant to be a provisional one.

Now, the idea is a purpose-buit police station not far from the Policía Nacional one on the Ronda Sur, promised the Councillor for Citizen Safety, Mari Ángeles Escámez.

Where will the money come from? She says that it will come 100% from municipal funds… so don’t hold your breath. It’s probably a good idea to take this announcement in the vein of an election pledge as the municipal elections are a mere four months away.
