A driver had a lucky escape after nearly plummeting down onto the N-340 where it passes through the Taramay tunnel. There was also collision near Urb. Alfamar.
The first accident occurred on Monday, not long after midday when for some unknown reason a smart car hit the crash barrier on the road that goes up over the tunnel on the eastern end. The vehicle was left dangling over a six metre drop.
The driver, a resident of Almuñécar, called the Policía Local, who called out the fire service to get the car back onto the road.
But those involved in another accident, this time yesterday morning and in front of Urbanización Alfamar, were not so lucky.
There was a collision around 10.30h resulting in four people being injured to varying degrees, two of whom were taken to Hospital Santa Ana in Motril.
It is not quite clear what exactly happened but it appears that one car invaded the oncoming lane resulting in the front of one car hitting the other in the side.
It took several hours to clear the wreckage and clean the road surface of leaked oil, which was carried out by the Almuñécar fire service.

At Alfa Mar it does not help the sign for 60Km was put back in the wrong place – past the URB as you head toward Salobreña not before the URB. I look down on that junction and most days you see near misses!
I also think lights would be good, like Monte Almendros, as the school bus also picks up from here.
