SAL Guardia Civil Post 05The Guardia Civil has arrested a 25-year-old man and also identified another 36-year old who allegedly attacked and robbed a mechanic from Salobreña, who they had called to fix their car.

According to the police report, the detained man called the victim by telephone to fix a fault on his car, which had broken down by the bus stop in Salobreña. The mechanic arrived shortly afterwards to ascertain what the fault was.

After a quick chat about the fault, the mechanic asked the man to open the bonnet. Whilst he was looking at the engine, the second male suddenly appeared and grabbed the mechanic by the throat, punched him several times and threatened him with a razor. They then relieved him of his mobile telephone and wallet.

The attackers fled in their supposedly broken down vehicle, leaving the mechanic badly beaten in the road. He was later taken to the medical centre in Salobreña for treatment.

From the details given, the Guardia Civil were able to identify the younger of the attackers as a chap from Vélez de Benaudalla, so he received a free visit from some officers and went straight into custody without passing ‘Go.’

Further enquiries into the second attacker appear to indicate that he left Spain shortly after the attack.
