ALM Velilla Blue ZonesStarting yesterday, the 1st of July, the Almuñécar and La Herradura Blue Zones have been activated on the seafront roads and other areas.

Councillor Juan José Ruiz Joya explained that the conditions are the same as last year; i.e. mornings from 11.00h to 15.00h and then from 19.00h to 22.00h, with a maximum of six hours per vehicle per day.

He went on to explain that you can use a mobile-phone app (e-park) or the ticket machines, with the former having the advantage of being able to purchase more time without having to leave the beach, for example.

In case you have any doubts, the activated Blue-Zone areas are: Puerta del Mar, Velilla, Playa Tesorillo, Playa El Pozuelo, Avenida Adolfo Suárez (Galera Playa), Plaza de Abderramán, paseo de Las Flores, San Cristóbal, Paseo Rincón de la China and Cotobro, as far as Edifício Los Ramos.

Also included is Zone 8, which comprises of the Avenida Mar de Plata, Calle Pirámide and Avenida Amelia Sánchez de Alcázar, between the Mar de Plata and Calle Pirámide crossroads.

As far as La Herradura is concerned the activated areas are the Paseo Andrés Segovia from the Mercado Municipal as far as La Caleta and Calle Gonzalo Barbero.

The municipality of Almuñécar has had the joy of having Blue Zones since 2009, with which the Town Hall will earn itself nearly a quarter of a million euros this year by leasing them to a private company.

  1. Hi,

Please note that the e-park app you mentioned in your article about parking zones in Almunecar does NOT work for foreigners. A Spanish NIE is mandatory. Was about to install the app when I read in the playstore comments about it. Maybe worth updating the article?

    Cheers – Mike
