Immigrants Land on Castell Beach

ECO Castell beach erosion OnLEleven illegal immigrants from North-West Africa were detained after having reached a beach within the municipality of Castell de Ferro.

The Guardia Civil took the immigrants, all adult men, to the Policía Nacional police station in Motril. The immigrants had been spotted by locals as they landed at 13.45h yesterday in a six-metre long, open boat.

However, the total number that made land was 14, according to witnesses, so the police are still searching for three more.

These three, if captured, and the 11 already arrested ones will be almost immediately returned to Morocco, under the present agreement between the two countries.
