Plusvalía on Inheritance Slashed

NRJ-town-hall-OnLResidents of Nerja are happy bunnies because the Town Hall has just applied a 95% discount on the plusvalía on inheritance — the maximum permitted.

No longer will you have to sell your house, pet hamster and virginity in order to find the funds to the plusvalía (capital gains) on inheritance — if you live in Nerja, at least.

In fact, the Ciudadanos party in Nerja has followed the example set by the fellow-party-led Town Hall of Rincón de la Victoria, which applied the same reduction as of last November.

Other Málaga town halls that apply a large discount are Ronda (80%) and Alhaurín de la Torre, where it stands at 50% — less generous but hardly a kick in the unmentionables.

Are the town halls over on the Granada side paying attention?

Anyway, back to joyous Nerja… This agreement struck at the last Plenary Meeting (Cs, PP, PSOE & IU in favour; EVA-Podemos abstaining) means that the municipal coffers will say goodbye to 384,600 euros, according to the municipal bean counter (accountant).

The Ciudadanos (C’s) had forced this measure onto the minority, tripartite council in exchange for their backing of the Municipal Budget for this year. So, quite a bit of arm twisting for a good cause.

Now the party that abstained in the voting, the EVA-Podemos, explained that they did so because they prefer stepped discount, so that the larger inheritances have less discount and the smaller one a greater one, rather than the actual ‘across-the-board’ 95% discount.

Enhorabuena, Los Nerjareños!
