Buenavista Gets Best Chef Award

ALM BuenaVistajpgJavier Fajardo Ledesma from Otivar’s Restaurante Buenavista won first prize in Mejor Cocinero de la Costa Tropical II, organised by Hotel Victoria Playa in Almuñécar.

The Almuñécar Councillor for Tourism, Rafael Caballero, handed over the plaque and 200-euro cash prize to Javi in reward for his winning dish, Raíces del Mundo.

The Second Prize, worth 100 euros, went to Paco de la Flor from Restaurante De la Flor, and the Third Prize (50 euros) went to Sergio González Rodríguez from Restaurante Firmvm.

The competition had been originally organised to take place on the 8th of March, but with the death of Chef Emilio Cervilla from Restaurante El Transmallo in Salobreña, it was agreed to postpone it until the 5th of April.

Javi, who runs Restaurante Buenavista, is a young, innovative chef and very professional. He took over this family-run restaurant from his father and uncle six years ago.

Friday nights at the Buenavista are very popular as it’s Mexican-Italian Night up in this lovely village, just 14 kilometers inland and nestling in a beautiful valley.

So, Otivar not only has a restaurant with the Best Chef on the Costa Tropical, but as I have said before, it also has the best pub on the Costa Tropical, too: El Indio; two good reasons to visit Otivar!
