MOT Hasta prontoWe have done several articles on the Desbandá in 1937, either on commemorations held in the province or photo exhibitions – today there is a film.

This documentary film, entitled Hasta Pronto, Hermanos, concentrates on the International Brigades involved in this tragic retreat with civilians and militia fleeing the advancing fascist columns along the coast and bombarded from the sea by the rebel ships.

With little help from the Republican Government in Madrid, the XIII International (Dabrowski) Brigade made up of foreign volunteers, held the Mulhacén-Motril line to protect the fleeing refugees on their way to Almería. The brigade was made up of Polish, Hungarian and Balkan volunteers, as well as Spanish replacements.

The documentary, which lasts 42 minutes, will be shown today at 19.00h in Motril’s Teatro Calderón.

For any history buff, this is not to be missed!
