ALM Hacker TwinsIdentical twins, Rocío and Beatriz Peula from Almuñécar, managed to hack the iPhone X, facial-recognition system – it could not distinguish between them.

Mind you, it didn’t work the first time and they had to try several times until the iPhone gave up out of desperation before the onslaught of the devious duo. The system uses a ‘learning’ procedure, which is why it eventually accepted both faces as if they belonged to the same person.

So how does this facial recognition thing work? TrueDepth uses front-facing, selfie camera, adding an infrared emitter that projects over 30,000 dots in a known pattern onto the user’s face. The dots are then photographed by the infrared camera for analysis.

The girls, who run a travel and lifestyle blog between them, posted the experience on YouTube, so here’s their video with the details of their dastardly double deed.
