Mamola & Castillo Get Safe Link

ECO Mamola PaseoMost people have driven along the old N-340 out towards Almería, passing through a succession of small coastal villages – blink and you miss them, but…

The good folk of La Mamola and Castillo de Baños are chuffed to bits with their proposed, new paseo linking the two villages, allowing them to visit each other without risking their lives walking along the N-340 with crazy drivers like you guys forcing them to dive off the road verges.

Yup, work costing 150,000 euros began mid December on the Camino de Ribera, which currently runs between La Mamola and Castillo de Baños.

About 15% of the seawall will come from the stones removed from the A-7 work further along the coast where they are removing the unstable hillside. This work will not occupy any of the beach area – let’s face it; there isn’t much anyway – so Costas, who get pretty touchy about people fiddling with beaches, are happy bunnies.

Anyway, political department heads gathered at the initiation of the building work for the photo shoot and to congratulate themselves on how wonderful and necessary they all are, while the Sub-Delegate for the Provincial Department of Costas gave a stirring sermon on how fantastic the Central Government is for being so thoughtful and generous where the Costa Tropical is concerned – they have earmarked, after all, 21m euros for beach-defensive work along our coast..
