There is some street work going on behind the main-road gasoline station in Almuñécar in front of the Centro Infantil Reina Sofía.

The work consists of improving the access to the facilities, according to the Councillor for Public Works, José Manuel Fernández Medina. He added that this work is being included into a larger work project involving renewing underground infrastructure between Barrio Las Palomas and Barrio San Sebastián.

The whole of the front of the Social Services building will have a pavement running along the in front of it, which will also connect to the Centro Infantil Reina Sofía, which is next door.

Finally, better street lighting will be installed and the parking area will be reorganised.

“This work is very necessary and long overdue, as this municipally-owned area (where the old medical centre used to stand) has been lacking ground infrastructure,” he said, adding, “Since the Fire Station has been finished, the area has needed to be sorted out for safety reasons, as it is used by many people on a daily basis.”
