Salobreña Virgen del Rosario

SAL Old ShotFrom Wednesday the 4th to the Sunday the 9th of October, Salobreña will be holding its very popular fiestas in honour of the Virgen del Rosario.

Given that today is already Friday, the nextmain event is at 21.00h with the XXIII Certamen de Bandas, which will be a concert with two brass bands: The Banda de Musica Felipe Moreno from Cúllar Vega an the Salobreña’s own brass band. The concert will be held n the Plaza del Museo.

Then at 22:30h there’s a knees up in the Parque de la Fuente with the dance band, Orquestra Magic Band and the DJ Kokodrilo.

Saturday’s activities start at noon with a church service. There’s a free bus service all through the fiestas, by the way, departing from Plaza de Goya and ending Calle Torre, which runs between 11.30h and 15.00h.

After the church service there is a pasodobles (two-step) concert in the Plaza del Museo with the dance band, LLena Que Nos Vamos (One For The Road).

Then at 14.00h there’s a charity paella in the same square: two euros a plate, which will go towards buying hygiene and baby products for families in need.

This is followed at 20.30h by a religious procession, leaving the main church and proceeding along, Calle Bóveda, Calle Estación, Calle Gloria, Plaza del Pescado, Calle Muralla, Calle Real and Plaza del Museum before returning to the church. The day ends with a knees up again in the Parque de la Fuente (same band line up).

SAL Romeria mainAnd now comes the part you have all been waiting for, which is the Romería del Sur! The mounted and cart procession starts at 11.00h, leaving Plaza Juan Carlos I and wending its way down to the beach. Once down there, the decorated carts and accompanying riders will be on display until 17.00h when the prizes will be awarded. The evening ends with a firework display.

Monday is a fiesta, so everything is closed and activities continue, starting at 17.30h with a kiddies’ party in Plaza Juan Carlos I and Calle Victoria Kent, where there will be a bouncy castle and an obstacle course.

In Plaza Juan Caros I at 18.30h there will be a dancing performance put on by Espacio Baraka, the Salobreña Dance School.
