Child Migrants Arrive in Motril

MOT illegal immigrants OnLThe latest group of sub-Saharan migrants, numbering 33, arrived in Motril at 20.00h last Wednesday. Of these, four have declared themselves as minors, including a young girl. The four youngsters will undergo special tests to confirm their ages.

The group also included nine women, and everyone was found to be in good health after the usual medical check-ups. After the checks and in line with the national protocols for these cases, the group were moved to a ‘temporary stay’ centre.

The Guardia Civil were advised that a boat containing migrants had left Morocco at 06.00h and were therefore out searching for the vessel at the appropriate time. The search operation located the craft at 16.20h and all the migrants were transferred to the Salvamar Hamal and taken directly to Motril.

AD Doctor Alice smallAs is usual in these incidents, immediately after the first call warning of the imminent arrival of the group, the National Police, Guardia Civil, Emergency Rescue Teams, Public Emergency Health Service and the Red Cross were all mobilised.
