SAL International Club DonationThe Salobreña International Club has made another donation to its hometown, thanks to funds obtained through the Eco Rastros, until recently, organised by the said club.

The donation comprises of wooden benches in a shaded green area (palm oasis) on the Playa de la Charca. The benches are mounted on a raised wood platform.

The club – as its name suggests, made up of foreign residents – dedicated 800 euros to this gesture, one of many that have been made by the club over the years.

However, since the beginning of the year, the club ceded the running of the Eco Rastro to the Asociación Akasha, meaning that it will no longer have the funds for further donations to the town’s infrastructure.

The ex-Chairwoman of the club and ex-Spokeswoman for the Eco Rastro, Helen McCormack, considers that their initiative has helped to promote tourism in the town as the weekly market has brought in people from around the area, including from across the border in Málaga’s Axarquia region.

AD Ventura bannerThe Eco Rastro came into being eight years ago and all of the monies generated by the market have gone to the improvement to the town, such as urban fixtures in the Parque El Postigo and the Parque La Caleta, for instance, as well as on the Avenida de Andalucía and old town.

The club has also provided volunteers for clean-up campaigns against graffiti around town.
