Zombies in Salobreña

SAL Zombie EventNo, we’re not talking about the Town Council but a fun event organised for the 19th of August at 23.00h, thanks to the living dead at the Municipal Youth Department.

Eventos Zombies LZD is ‘alternative entertainment,’ involving people looking like Alice Cooper dragged through a hedge backwards, running through the main streets of the town until around 05.30h, if they are not eaten beforehand.

Participants will be divided into two groups: zombies and survivors, with the latter having to evade capture and ending up on the Menu de Día. The survivors will have to pass a series of tests in order to be evacuated. One of the prime tasks will be tracking down the vaccine which will stop them turning into Keith Richards overdosing on rabies.

We’re telling you about this now so when the evening does come along, you will be forewarned and not run shrieking around in fright after having come across a herd of zombies.

Particants should not get drunk (on alcohol or brains) and minors of 14 or under must be accompanied by an adult, who does not have the intention of chewing on them. Youngster between 15 and 18 must carry a letter from their parents authorising their participation accompanied by a photocopy of their parents’ ID card.

Participation costs 10 euros if you are a zombie or 20 euros if you are a survivor (discrimination, anybody?). You don’t have to get made up yourselves because the necessary make up is included in the price of participation. Still trying to figure out why zombies, who need the make up, pay 10 euros, whilst survivors, who don’t, pay 20, but there you go: the cost of living… or surviving, we suppose.

Salobreña aims to make this the biggest Eventos Zombies LZD in Spain, so give them a hand… it will probably fall off anyway, together with one of your legs. Do try not to really bite anybody and remember; no nibbling neighbours’ wives!

More info at the Casa de la Cultura or on the Eventos Zombies LZD website.
