Parapanda Folk Festival

PON Parapanda Folk FestivalTired of Flamenco and Jazz? Yes? Go wash your mouth out with soap! But hey, why not pop up to Illora to the east of Granada to see a Folk Music Festival?

This year marks the 27th Festival Parapanda Folk, which will run from the 27th to the 30th of this month.

You might not consider it Folk in the Anglo-Saxon sense, because it is a collection of traditional music. Yet it is much more than just a Folk Festival because there are also films and ethnographic documentaries.

The Mayor of Íllora, Antonio José Salazar Pérez, said that the idea was to revive the oral tradition from throughout the ages; something, he considers, that is important for young people to get to know.

The festival is also a meeting of travelling minstrels, with artistes coming from all over Spain.

Well, what do you think? Come on, do something different and pop up to Íllora and ‘get it on down’ with some heavy-duty medieval jiving!
