48th Festival Flamenco

SAL lucero alba 2017Salobreña will see the 48th Festival Flamenco Lucero del Alba on the 5th of August, but you can already buy your tickets – be sure to because it will soon sell out!

This year the Town Hall, Port Authorities, Mancomunidad and the Flamenco cub (peña) La Trilla are all cooperating in the organisation of this event, which is this long running and prestigeous Flamenco festival – it’s one of the longest-running ones in the country.

The internationally renowned, Granada born, Flamenco singer, Marina Heredia will head the bill. Other really big names in the Flamenco world who have also performed in this festival are: Chocolate, Paco de Lucía, Fosforito, Camarón, Carmen Linares, Calixto Sánchez, Niña Pastori and José Mercé, amongst others.

Even those who know nothing about Flamenco will recognise the name of Paco de Lucia, for instance.

Marina Heredia at the presentation of the event last week admitted to having had a soft spot for Salobreña as she spent many summers there with her grandmother as a child.

This year’s festival will have such performers as Miguel de Tena, Manuel López ‘El Canario’ y Eliseo Alabarce. Accompanying them on the guitar is Antonio Cáceres, José Quevedo ‘Bola,’ José Fajardo and Alfredo Mesa. Ana Cali will be the Flamenco dancer.

So, now you know, clear a space on the 5th of August and get your 12-euro entrance ticket at the Salobreña Casa de la Cultura or the Tourist Information Office.
