ALM UK TV VisitBritain’s Channel 4 visited the El Pinero fruit farm in Almuñécar to shoot footage on mangoes and other fruit for its Superfoods programme.

Reporter Kate Quilton and film crew accompanied farm owner Antonio Guerrero around the plantation, viewing not only mango trees, but other subtropical fruit as well.

Antonion Guerrero, who specialises in ‘agro-tourism,’ says that the farm  received around 600 tourists last year, especially from the Nordic countries.

Mangoes first appeared in Almuñécar about 40 years ago with some varieties grown for adaption to the area at the experimental farm, El Zahorí. Local, tropical-fruit farmer, Juan José Castillo, was one of the first to plant mangoes, however.
