ECO Calahonda Medical CentreThe Motril branch of the Partido Popular is asking for more summer personnel for the public-health services on the Costa Tropical, especially Calahonda and Carchuna.

Readers might remember that we reported in a previous article that this party had called for the same at Santa Ana Hospital, which is the area hospital for the whole of the Costa Granadina.

According to the PP, which exercises an opposition role in the Regional Parliament, the Junta is “vilely playing with something as important as public health.” They also praised, however, the “excellent professionals within the local public health sector.”

The local PP Head for Carchuna, Calahonda and Torrenueva is Concepción Abarca, who also is the First Councillor Carchuna-Calahonda (ELA del Llano) and the PP Spokesman for Torrenueva, Lorenzo Estévez, raised the “alarm” over the lack of summer reinforcements for these former Motril dependencies.

The Junta does have a Plan Especial del Verano, but the PP representatives conider it as “alarming,” as it does not deal with the reality of these coastal towns, in their opinion. They point out that the said plan just increases the shift load on existing medical staff to 15 shifts a month, which the PP consider “inhuman and unsustainable.”
