ALM Tourist OfficeAccording to the Almuñécar Tourist Board, foreign visitors to the town in the first six months of the year was up five percent, which is not to be sniffed at!

The Councillor for Tourism, Rafael Caballero Jiménez, pointed out that the biggest increase, by nationality, responds to the Netherlands, which increased by 22% on the same time period in 2016.

German tourists rose in number by 17% and the Nordic visitors were up by 15%… but that’s not all. For the first time ever, the amount of foreign tourists surpassed the amount of Spanish tourist, reaching 51% of the 35,000 tourists.

Seeing as you’re plainly panting to know more statistics, the actual percentage pie of foreign visitors, as opposed to the national-increase percentages, was: 31% French tourists, 22% British tourists, 21% Nordic ones and 11% German visitors.

Do you want to know how the Spanish tourist figure breaks down? Of course you do! Well, 33% come from Andalucia, 15% come from Madrid and Castilla-Leon 8%.
