The 2017 national mathematics competition, (provincial level) which was held in the Centro Cívico in La Herradura, enjoyed wide participation.

The XXXIII Olimpiada Matemática Nacional – Thales brought together 70 pupils belonging to 6th-grade junior and 2nd-grade senior school levels from the provinces of Granada and Málaga.

Local schools; Almuñécar, La Herradura, Jete and Lanjarón amongst others, contributed participants, as did schools from the rest of the province and the neighbouring province of Málaga.

The result of the competition will be made public towards the end of the month and the winners, both in the team and individual categories, will go onto the regional leg to be held in Jaén between the 17th and 20th of May. The national finals will be held in Valladolid.

In last year’s competition, a total of 3,000 pupils from 400 schools within Andalucia participated.
