Yesterday (2nd March) saw several intentional fires in the Vega area and it is thought that one or several culprits are behind them.

There were a total of five separate fires followed by an abandoned cortijo in Lobres being torched – it’s not clear if the two sets of incidents are connected, although it is highly likely because of the proximity in time.

The Mayor of Salobreña, María Eugenia Rufino, has called upon the townsfolk to come forward – in person or via social media – if they have seen anything suspicious, bringing it to the attention of the police forces.

She points out that these incidents put a strain on the emergency services and could put lives at risk should they be busy attending to these call-outs instead of other emergency situations.
