The Motril Town Hall has requested a grant for 100,000 euros from the Junta de Andalucía to help finance the repair to the damaged industrial smokestack.

Last month, readers might remember, the historic chimney belonging to the Fábrica del Pila was damaged by high winds, with one of its side losing brick work, leaving a hole.

Emergency repair work began on the 17th of February but the scarcity of funds means that it is progressing slowly. And it is expensive because at least two high-reaching cranes are being used simultaneously.
