The Almuñécar Guardia Civil has managed to recover nine of the ten guitars stolen from a guitar-maker’s workshop in the Parque Majuelo.

As the guitars are of an exquisite quality- made by a renowned luthier (Antonio); the same man that makes the prized guitars for the Andrés Segovia Classical Guitar Competition – the stolen instruments are valued at around 10,000 euros.

Police investigations led to the arrest of an 18-year-old suspect; a local lad and the recovery of the stolen instruments. Another suspect, an alleged accomplice, is still at large. Both young men have criminal records and have been arrested for similar burglaries.

The burglary took place in the early hours of the 24th of January in the said workshop, located in one of the small casetas just across the bridge over the fish-salting ruins.

The owner reported the break-in and theft at the local Guard Civil post on Monday morning.
